Chair of Philosophy II
Having obtained a BA in Philosophy and Economics from the University of Bayreuth and an MSc in Comparative and European Social Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, I am pursuing a PhD degree in philosophy under the supervision of Professor Rudolf Schüßler. In continuation of my earlier research interest and work experience in the insurance sector as well as in European policy making, I am exploring the ethical framework of pension systems in my PhD project. I try to take a step back from the path dependencies that economic and political analysis face with regards to old age-related social welfare schemes and instead to approach it from an ethical perspective: what are the aims and norms that guide pension schemes? Which principles of distributional and commutative justice should or are being employed?
