Research Forum – Margaret Moore: “The Ethics of Migration and Common Ownership of the Earth”
November 13, 2018, 16:15–17:45
S 106 (FAN C)
This talk examines one argument for open borders, which is based on the idea of the world and the world’s resources owned in common. It examines Mathias Risse’s and Hillel Steiner’s appeal to that argument. I argue that it is problematic, both in terms of the implications for migration, but especially because it is rooted in a way of conceiving of the natural world that is deeply problematic.
